Free In You

Jef put this Meme on his blog and I thought it was fun, so I thought I'd give it a try. Here's how it works:

1. Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question.

Q: What does next year have in store for you?
"I don't want your love"
Duran Duran

Hey! I'm already not liking this!

Q: What does your love life look like next year?
"Addicted"
Kelly Clarkson

I've really been trying to stop that!

Q: What do you say when life gets hard?
"Daddy"
Beyonce

Umm...Daddy is not with us anymore...

Q: Song that reminds you of good times?
"I will never be the same"
Melissa Etheridge

Good Lord!

Q: What do you think when you get up in the morning?
"Treat Me Right"
Pat Benatar

That's better!

Q: What song will you dance to at your wedding?
"Alien"
Bush

That's old fashioned romance for you!

Q: Song that reminds you of your first kiss?
"All Around the World of the Myth of Fingerprints"
Paul Simon

I've had a few fingerprints on me...

Q: Your favourite saying?
"I'm Not the One"
Cars

Hmmm...

Q: Favourite place?
"Love the One Your With"
Stephen Stills

If only my brain were wired that way!

Q: Most Missed Memory?
"Boondocks"
Little Big Town

That's not far from wrong!

Q: What song describes your best friend?
"In the Weeds"
Michelle Malone

But I don't have any friends into pot... that I know of.

Q: What song describes your ex?
"California Dreamin'"
Mamas and the Papas

Another one that makes me say....Hmmm....

Q: Where would you go on a first date?
"Welcome Me"
Indigo Girls

I would hope that I would be welcome on a first date. If not, then I think thats what's referred to as a "first stalk."

Q: Drug of choice?
"Walking Through Fire"
Mary Chapin Carpenter

Interesting!

Q: What song describes yourself?
"One Small Year"
Shawn Colvin

One small year until I get my house!!!

Q: What is the thing you like doing most?
"When the World Ends"
Dave Matthews Band

Huh? Maybe this is a reference to my new found obsession with "Heroes?"

Q: The song that best describes the president?
"Lay My Head Down
Indigo Girls

Ha! That actually kind fits!

Q: Where will you be in 10 years?
La Grange
ZZ Top

La Grange, TX or La Grange, GA?

Q: Your love life right now?
"Hello Again"
Dave Matthews Band

I was kinda hoping to move forward...

Q: What is your state of mind like at the moment?
"Winthrop"
Indigo Girls

I don't even know what this means!

Q: How will you die?
"Bad Luck Blue Eyes Good Bye"
Black Crowes

Another one that makes me grimace...

Q: The song you'll put as the subject?
"Free In You"
Indigo Girls

I'll leave this one to your imagination.

Summer Breeze - Makes me feel fine...

...OK...maybe it's not Summer, but I was reminded of that old "Seals & Croft's" song when I looked at the weather and saw it was a balmy 68* outside!

I opened my sliding glass window and was caressed by a gust of fresh clean air. It was one of those truly extraordinary ordinary things that happen through out out days.

Shelby, the younger of my two cats, loves looking out the window but becomes totally ecstatic when said window is open. She's a very happy little cat and is expressing this in her normally talkative way.

Man I love Saturday's with nothing that I have to do...

I OFFICIALLY OWN MY CAR!!!

As you may or may not know, I got in a bit of a fender bender in my car the weekend of New Year's. (No alcohol was involved) I put my car in the shop on 1/2/07. Shortly after that, I got the title for my car in the mail. I opened the envelope and looked at the title, but didn't feel like I could truly get excited because my car was not in my possession at that moment.

HOWEVER, I went and picked up my car from the shop last Thursday and as I was driving away, I had 2 thoughts: 1. Damn! My Civic is WAY smaller than the Chrysler 300 I rented! and 2. I OWN THIS CAR!!!!!!YAY!!!!!I OWN THIS CAR!!!!!!!

My 2002 Honda Civic is my first new car. I had a wreck in my previous car and I fought against my feelings of unworthiness and bought what a wanted - a NEW Burgundy Honda Civic. It had 11 miles on the odometer when I drove it off the lot 11/28/01.

I looked down at the odometer yesterday right when she hit 80000 miles. Wow! What a trip I've had in the 79989 miles I've put on the car! Numerous round trips to Texas, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina - not to mention the every day trips around the ATL. And after the little cosmetic surgery the car had recently, she still looks good and runs good!

I can't talk about ownership of my car without mentioning that I was unemployed for 15 months while making payments and WITH MANY HEARTFELT THANKS to my numerous benefactors, but especially one who would rather I not mention her name, I never missed or was late on a payment. Words cannot describe how grateful and thankful I am that I did not lose my car while I was unemployed. Sometimes it seems trite to say this, but I was and I am truly blessed.

So please rejoice with me that I have a completely paid off car! Here's to another 79989 miles!

The Electric Company loves my Sister and B-I-L

I finally made it to my sister's after a pleasant 5 hr drive from the ATL. I'm driving in the subdivision that their house is in and turned onto their road.

Imagine the smile on my face as I approached their house and every Christmas light is still just blazing! Our family was not able to celebrate Christmas until now, and Sister and B-I-L kept it like Christmas for Eric and I.

Pretty cool, huh?

Great Loud Music in a Great Big Car

As y'all may have surmised from my last post, I had to rent a car while my car is in the shop. Luckily my car insurance covers 80% of the cost of the rental car. So when it came time to make the decision on what car I would get, I was told that I could get a Chevy Cobalt for $4.50 a day, or I could get a Chrysler 300 for $6.50 a day.

I chose the Big Ass Pimp-mobile - of course!

So, I'm motoring to NC to my sister's in this big ass car, and on comes a song I haven't heard for YEARS!!! "Beautiful Girls" by Van Halen. I was quite the Van Halen fan in my day, so I squealed with delight and cranked that mutha up!!!

There is just something special about a favorite old song cranked loud in a car on a road trip!

What are some of of your favorite "crank-it-up" songs?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wow! It's 2007! In my line of work I've been using 2007 dates for a month or so now, so it's weird that it's finally the date that I've been using! LOL!

Speaking of work - it's been very challenging lately, which is a big part of the reason that I haven't been blogging with any sort of regularity. However I am off this week, so I'm going to try to make up for lost time!

Since I've last blogged, I took a really fun trip with a van full of friends to Callaway Gardens to see the "Fantasy in Lights." We had a really good time and I made some new friends!

I went to Texas for Christmas weekend to see the people who call me their "Dark Haired Daughter/Sister." Andi and I have been friends since I was in 2nd grade at TW Stanley Elementary School in Weatherford, TX, which means we've been friends for 31 years. Whew! That's a lot of history! We had a really nice time and they went overboard with showering me with gifts.

Soon I'll be heading to NC for Christmas with my sister, brother in law and nephew. Eric works retail and it's hard to get off at the holidays, so we postponed our celebration until now. We always have a really great time together, so I'm really looking forward to it.

This last weekend was a little challenging as well. I went and spent a big chunk of the day with some friends that also went overboard with gifts for me (that I'm extremely thankful for, by the way!). I was driving in the wet and dimly lit parking lot of a strip mall and I managed to scrape my car against a parked car. Man, I was so pissed off at myself!!! The guy that owned the car that I scraped up against was still at work, so I went and got him and exchanged info with him. Luckily everyone was unhurt and the cars were still (somewhat) drivable. (I can't make a left turn without making an ugly scraping noise). I was trying really hard to think of the positive side of that situation. My initial assessment is that I need to slow down and pay more attention - not just in wet and dimly lit parking lots, but in general. I'm sure other lessons will be revealed to me, but right now, I'm just thankful that everyone was unhurt and I have good insurance.

I finally bought myself a Tivo!!! After being on the waiting list for FOUR months to get a DVR through my cable company, I just decided it was time to just go for the gusto and buy a Tivo. With wonderful technical assistance from my friend that prefers to remain nameless, I got everything hooked up and working. I AM IN LOVE! How have I ever lived without one of these things???

Well, I'm going to close for now, but within the next couple of days, I'll reveal what I hope to see for myself in 2007.

Take care and may you and yours have a wonderful and prosperous 2007!

:-)
